Fantasy Booking Wrestlemania

We're on the Road to Wrestlemania. Not many matches though are overly clear, there's lots of rumours of what plans are. We'll have a better idea after the Fast Lane PPV in 2 weeks but right now this is what I would put together for the show of shows.

Main Event For the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The world title match I think they should go with a Wrestlemania 10 situation. In case you don't know, Bret Hart and Lex Luger both won the Royal Rumble in 1994 with the match being ruled a tie so they both got title matches. They would flip a coin and the winner could choose to go first and face the current champion or go second and place the winner of the first match.

Daniel Bryan Vs Brock Lesnar- WWE Title

Roman Reigns Vs Brock Lesnar- WWE Title

Have Daniel Bryan face off first but fall just short. Roman would go on to narrowly beat Lesnar but just as he starts celebrating, the music hits.

Roman Reigns Vs Seth Rollins- WWE Title

They've never done a Money in the Bank cash-in at WM yet and this year seems like the perfect opportunity. Rollins cashes in the MITB contract over an exhausted, beaten up Reigns and leaves the new World Champion.

2nd Main Event

Triple H Vs Sting

There needs to be some sort of payoff to the Authority storyline at Wrestlemania. Sting helped remove them at Survivor Series. They were back a month later. I would go with Sting winning over Triple H, driving out The Authority. Sting then puts someone else in charge as who knows how many times we're going to see him again after Mania.

Undercard

John Cena Vs Rusev. Winner: Cena
Dean Ambrose Vs Bad News Barrett- Intercontinental Title. Winner: Ambrose with the feud continuing on for at least one more PPV.
Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match: The Uso's Vs Tyson Kidd/Cesaro Vs The Ascension Vs Ziggler/Ryback- Tag Team Titles. Winners: Tyson/Cesaro. The Ascension lose but have a strong performance in the match to continue building them up.
Goldust Vs Stardust. Winner: Stardust
Triple Threat Match: Paige Vs Nikki Bella vs Natalya- Divas Title. Winner: Paige who then moves into a feud with Natalya
Seth Rollins Vs Randy Orton. Winner: Orton wins, getting his retribution.
Sami Zayn Vs Finn Balor- NXT Title. Winner: Sami Zayn

Pre-Show: The Miz Vs Damian Mizdow. Winner: Damian Mizdow.

The Walking Dead Returns With More of the Same

The Walking Dead returned last night with its mid-season premiere after a 2 month hiatus. If you were expecting something different than the season has offered so far though, you’ll likely be disappointed. I’ve had more than one conversation with a colleague, who is also a fan, about what didn’t work during the first half of season two, including character development and large pacing issues.

After a quick recap we pick back up where we left off with Rick, stone-faced and serious, after killing a zombified Sophia. We get some good gore in the form of a scythe through the head of Mama Green zombie who popped back into existence and clutched at Beth. Herschel’s daughter, clearly in a hysterical state, had gone over to check on her. After the smoke clears we get into the main theme of the first half of the episode, trying to process what happened. A lot of tension has been bubbling just under the surface and is ready to explode. We go all over the map with short scenes of everyone dealing with their respective feelings either by arguing with each other or sitting in fields ripping out clumps of flowers. It gets to seem slightly disjointed going from one person to another and not as cohesive as you might like.

Things start to look up during the second half as Herschel disappears and Rick and Glenn go off to find him. It starts to feel like the plot is finally beginning to move on and pick up. Laurie drives off to find Rick and gets into a car accident and we get a good scene with Rick and Herschel in the bar where they really start to get to the meat of things. Herschel is obviously broken up over his realization that his thinking on the matter was wrong. The end gets a little conflicted again. It’s a great character segment for Rick in terms of where his mind is headed the rest of the season but it also suffers from the shows curse of dragging things out. The three of them run into two new people and have a drink with them but things are so awkward, it gets to be a very uncomfortable and slow scene at points.

Executive producers have gotten a lot of flack during the hiatus of the pacing and not enough zombies etc. Pretty much every interview asked them about it and they have promised time and time again there are more zombies in the second half, things ramp up and there’s more action. This certainly could be seen as a transitional episode. The impact of finding Sophia and having to shoot her needed to be depicted and what that did to people couldn’t just be glossed over quickly. On the other hand, and this is one of the first thoughts I had after watching this episode, I don’t think this show is ever going to be what a lot of people want it to be. It can’t just be zombie killing for an hour because that’s not what it’s about. In the same way that Buffy the Vampire Slayer wasn’t actually about vampires, The Walking Dead isn’t about zombies; it’s about the human condition at the centre of it. We’ll see what kind of balance is achieved and where they go from here over the next 5 episodes.

As usual lemme know what you think. Feedback, comment etc.

Who The F Is Justin Bieber segment transcript for tonights show.

Continuing in the tradition of sharing the transcript for the Who the F is Justin Bieber segment of the Brett Carruthers show on CJ 106 (that's not the actual name of the show but since the show doesn't have a name we'll go with it.) Haven't done one in awhile, so let me know what ya think.

Who the F is Justin Bieber?

The right to say and think whatever you please is something I strongly believe in but of course where, and indeed when, that begins and ends is a matter of much debate.

Lots of people go overboard from time to time without meaning to. The real problem is people who do it continually, on purpose, just for the sake of being cruel and creating media buzz. Such is the plan of action for the Westboro Baptist Church; A group that goes to such disgusting lengths to get attention that they make Kanye West look like J.D. Salinger.

I don’t think I need go too in depth down the list of their crazy stunts. The numerous besmirchings of soldier funerals, a demonstration near the final resting place of the legendary Ronnie James Dio and a gay campaign that would illicit some scholars to speculate on whether they doth protest too much. Even the majority of leader Fred Phelps family wants nothing to do with him.

Indeed the fanatical religious group is slightly less popular than Michelle Bachmann at a Natural History event. The latest target is rock and roll icons the Foo Fighters. The group is planning on protesting next week’s Foo concert in Kansas over the band’s cheeky Hot Buns tour announcement video. In the clip uploaded to the band’s youtube page, Dave Grohl and company play truck drivers who stop at a diner to shower and clean each other up. It’s quite tongue in cheek and fits in well with recent odd celebrity offerings like Jim Carrey professing his love to Emma Stone (which I think could totally work as part of some weird viral campaign for something.)

As we have learned though, the extremist group does not have a sense of humour. And if they do it’s either for the worst comedian in the world or for someone going on a racist rant like Michael Richards or Tracy Morgan. Another thing we know, which would dovetail nicely with the hot buns video, is that Dave Grohl is not shy about voicing his opinion. Just ask Ryan Murphy or the guy trying to fight with someone at the band’s Itunes Festival show.
Both of which got supremely cussed out for comparatively little reason. If he chose to freely comment on this, the ensuing storm would make Tony Montana from Scarface blush.

New Demo

I've been working on updating my on-air demo. Got some new clips and switched out a couple of the old ones that I think weren't as good. One thing I was unsure about: the majority of the clips all have secondary audio clips for the punch line. I wasn't sure if it's a good idea to have a lot of that on there or not. I think it depends on the person probably, some like it and some don't think it works. I'd love to know what you think, so any comments you got let 'em fly. I'm also gonna put the old demo on their for comparison's sake.

Radio clips

Here's a couple of shortened radio clips I've done recently. Workin on some new demo stuff, I'm not really sure what would work for demo stuff though so it's hard to say what is good and what isn't.

CD Innovator Dies

'Death' Metal

Ticketmaster Dynamic Pricing

The ticketmaster one there was two different parts I considered using. I thought the drug market comparison might be a little much so I had used a line I liked about using dirty business men trying to screw you (ticketmaster) over scalpers. Turning what would maybe be the usual perception of the two upside down. But it just didn't sound natural and just didn't have the right flow to it.

....

I have an interview tomorrow for a creative writer job in Sudbury, Ontario. So, yay. I'd had like 3 interviews in the last 2 months or so, 1 and half months. Or at least it would've been 3 but the one guy never got back to me after initially emailing about an interview. Which is good. and weird too. I hadn't had any interviews from September to February. Too bad it's really early in the morning. He said it could be moved to later but I felt weird about inquiring about that. Maybe it would affect how I came off or something and is something I shouldn't be worrying about as something looking for a job, I don't know. (Also I don't know if that was correct usage there. Or if it should be effect. I'm too lazy to bother looking it up.)

.....

I'm goin to 3 concerts now this summer. Awesome. Getting tickets for Rock on the Range Canada solely because it's headlined by Alice in Chains (!)No way I'm missing that. I've even found people to go with, which is cool.

.....

In terms of movies: I saw Insidious. Scary as hell. Go see it, it's quite good, very old school sorta feel to it.

BEDA #3- Metal July

So I got my tickets for A Perfect Circle in July in Winnipeg. Awesome. Row 10, should be an amazing show. Like nobody wanted to go though. I posted on facebook, texted like 15 people, bumpkus. One person is goin and he would pretty go to anything. Disappointing.

Also, sweet, same friend I'm goin with, got 4 free vip tickets for Slayer, Rob Zombie and Exodus. Nice! So I get to bookend July with two hard rock/metal concerts. Slayer I'm not hugely into but Exodus I like and Rob Zombie puts on a good show.

End Transmission.
